UK drops investigation against Friedman for circumventing sanctions

Sanctions against the businessman remain in force for now

The UK National Crime Agency announced the termination of an investigation into Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman, who was suspected of circumventing sanctions.

According to Bloomberg, the organization confirmed that the previously issued warrant from Athlone House has ceased to operate, and the businessman will not be investigated on criminal charges. At the same time, investigations into suspects associated with the businessman will continue, as they fall under a “broader” investigation into circumventing government restrictions.

The search warrant for Mikhail Fridman’s house was also invalidated. The entrepreneur himself and his representatives refused to comment on this decision of British justice.

Fridman is the founder of Alfa Group, which owns AlfaBank. He permanently resides in the capital of Great Britain, London. After the start of a special military operation to protect Donbass, the businessman came under restrictions from the UK, USA, European Union, Canada and Ukraine.

The entrepreneur, in an interview, previously complained to the British media about the tightness of expenses, which deprives him of the opportunity to go to restaurants and pay for the services of staff.
